pricing and schedule for custom orders

Making dreams come true is not cheap, but we try to be as affordable as possible, without compromising our commitment to high quality work and professional service.

estimating price based on the amount of lighting

The price of a custom order can vary over a wide range, depending on the amount and type of lighting, the type of garment that is used, the number of copies involved, and the turn-around time, as well as other factors. Because there are so many variables, we are unable to produce a detailed price list that covers every possible type of installation.

For some of our previous creations, we have included prices on the pages where they are described. For other designs, the cost can often be estimated with the following guidelines:

single color
RGB (color changing)
individually mounted LEDs
$10-$20
per LED
$20-$50
per LED
line of EL wire
$20-$30
per 12" (30cm)

Price ranges are listed in some categories to account for variables such as the number of soldered junctions between sections of lighting. For example, a design created with a continuous 10 foot piece of EL wire will be less expensive than one that requires 10 pieces spliced together that are each 1 foot in length.

For a design with individually mounted single color LEDs, the cost will depend on the way that they are mounted and the type af animation that is needed. Most designs with a steady-glowing effect (with all of the lights on at once) will be $10/LED. Designs with individually animated lights will start in the range of $15-$20 per LED, for garments with <100 lights. Complex designs with hundreds of lights can often be done at a lower cost per LED.

The cost of an RGB LED installation will depend on the type of color control that is needed. The lower end of the price range applies to designs where all of the lights are the same color at the same time, or all of the lights display a random variety of colors (with no user control). Designs with fully controllable individual pixels will be at the higher end of the price range shown.

Once we have established the key design features and the general price range of a custom project, we will go over the features in more detail, and prepare a more specific quote. These prices cover the full installation of lights into a garment. This includes our design services, the cost of all electronic parts and support circuitry, programming the custom animation patterns (if applicable), and any sewing that is required to complete the installation and conceal wires within a lining. Batteries are also included.

There is a minimum charge of $200 per custom garment. Many of our simpler designs can be achieved for under $500. Complex designs with hundreds of lights will have prices in the range of thousands of dollars. If you have a certain budget in mind, we can recommend a range of cost-effective designs that will meet your needs.

shipping charges

Shipping charges are not included in the prices listed above. Standard ground shipping within the US is typically in the range of $10-$20 per garment. Rush shipping within the US is typically $50-$75, depending on where you are and how soon you need to receive it.

We can also ship to other parts of the world - international shipping and handling charges are typically $75 and up.

payment options

We accept cash (for local orders), checks, wire transfers, and all major credit cards. We also accept payment via PayPal. Please contact us by phone or email if you would like to place an order. We do not have a traditional online shopping cart because every custom order is different, with a wide range of prices.

We typically require a deposit of at least 50% before we begin the work, with the full balance due before delivery. Other payment plans can be arranged for repeat customers, in some cases.

lead times for standard custom orders, rush jobs

We can typically fill an order for a custom design within 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project and our workload at the time. Small orders (such as a lighted bra, or hat, or a simple outline on a suit collar) can often be produced more quickly. Large orders involving hundreds of lights or several copies of the same garment might require more time.

When we are especially busy, we will post waiting list alerts on our contact info page.

Rush orders may also be possible, with delivery times within a week, or even days. Additional charges may apply for rush work, and for express shipping and handling. If you need your clothes to be Enlighted by a certain date, please include that information when you make your inquiry.

returns, exchanges, and repairs

All sales are final once you have committed to a design, made payment arrangements, and the work has begun. We cannot accept returns or exchanges for custom projects.

We will do our best to make sure that you are satisfied with your purchase. This begins early in the design process, when we will discuss your aesthetic goals and technical requirements. We will help you to understand what you are ordering, to have realistic expectations for the results that can be achieved, and to be prepared for the special care and handling that these garments typically require.

We guarantee that everything will work upon arrival. If you discover defects in materials or workmanship that require further attention, and can return the garment to us, we will make repairs or design adjustments at no cost (within reason, depending on the nature of the project).

If the electronics in your garment have been damaged by extended use, or improper care and handling, many parts can be repaired or replaced. The cost of the repairs will depend on the type of work, and the turn-around time that is needed.
