LIGHT MESSAGES
but not Fashion Statements
These pieces of wearable illumination are the result of a collaboration between Ingo Maurer and Janet Hansen.
Janet Hansen is founder of Enlighted Designs, Inc., of San Diego, California. As a "fashion engineer", she creates illuminated clothing for a variety of international clients. Her background in aerospace engineering and biomechanics is often evident in her designs, which represent a fusion of art, fashion, and technology.
The emotional qualities of light are explored in animated digital patterns and text messages that are displayed on various symbolic forms of clothing, such as a wedding dress and a pair of workman's coveralls (a 'Blauer Anton'). The placement of these messages on the human body emphasizes the importance of personal expression, and interaction with others.
