We transformed a rather plain beige-colored straw cowboy hat into a dynamic rainbow light show, with the addition of an Enlighted hat band.

Ten RGB LEDs were added to the hat band (5 in front, 5 in back), and a 9V battery was hidden in a comfortable pocket in the top of the hat. The lights go through a slow color changing pattern, randomly fading between red, green, blue, and all of the intermediate colors. The lights shine on the curved parts of the hat brim, illuminating the texture of the straw weave.
